For the last 12 months I've learned sales skills as a Software Engineer, here are 3 key things that I've learned about sales:
👉 The prospects eat Pizzas too 🍕. What I mean by that is that they are just like you and me, normal people that will watch Netflix when they go back home. So, no need to be super serious and over formal, I learned to just talk like a friend.
👉 This is the advice you hear the most about sales: You need to be trustworthy. How? Just be transparent and don't try to sell things you can't provide. Would you buy water from a salesman promising you he can sell you water in powder?
👉 Asking the right questions 🕵️. It's so important to ask about the needs of the client, their pains, how much time or money this pain costs, what would be their dream solution, and so on. On top of that, I've learned to always apply the "WHY" question. I've just learned to ask why again and again like when I was a child asking why the clock was going to the right, or why there are 60 minutes in 1 hour (don’t over use it haha). You get the point.
What's the TOP 1 thing you learned in sales?
Kudos to Juan Carlos my mentor who taught me a lot.
