"Intent signals" are the latest trend in cold emailing 🔥
But you're using it WRONG, here's the fix:
You don’t HAVE TO mention the signal explicitly for it to work.
Let me explain.
90% of people are doing this:
1°) track a signal (eg. job opening)
2°) use it as their first eg. “Hey {firstName}, I saw you were hiring for XXX”
3°) then pitch as usual
Why this can be bad? 👇
Depending on the signal, it may not look natural. Rule of thumb, if that’s not something you’d do manually, don’t mention it like you did!
If multiple people are using the same signal, you will be sending the exact same thing.
It doesn’t add anything to the convo. They already know that. You’re losing some precious real estate.
Here’s what to do instead! 👇
Use the signal as a way to build a relevant lead list, but don’t mention it explicitly.
Assuming the signal is relevant to your offer, then by nature you know that they will be more likely to be interested than a random prospect.
That’s it ✅
That’s where the performance boost comes from → a targeted, relevant lead list
Don’t have to mention it in the copy.
Especially now that more and more people are doing this and automating it… you DON’T want to do what everyone else is doing.
Think outside the box 🧠
